Although summer doesn’t officially begin until June 21st, it sure feels like we’ve arrived, doesn’t it? School is out, the days are stretching longer and it is getting more humid! I typically have mixed feelings about this season, but I am welcoming summer with open arms this year. I’ve been craving the slower rhythm it brings! A watermelon spritzer wouldn’t hurt, either.
A few years ago, I remember reading the summer edition of Magnolia Magazine (my favorite) and there was an idea I really appreciated! It was a page where they encouraged you to think about what you want your summer to look like, and then write it down; kind of like a bucket list! Here it is:
I filled it out that year and decided to do it again this year! As a health coach, one thing I know is the importance of intentionality. But I’m also learning that it is best if you take it a step further than good intentions and make a specific plan/goal! You are much more likely to achieve what you are wanting to do this way.
Here is my summer 2023 bucket list. As you can see, I didn’t waste any time getting after it! Because after 13 years of asking, I finally got Corey to agree to go camping in a tent a couple weeks ago! Although it was a lot of work packing and unpacking everything and on a blow-up mattress wasn’t the best, we still had a great time with friends in the beautiful Ozark Mountains. This was our view from our private spot on another friend’s property. Gorgeous, isn’t it?
We may or may not be casually looking at little teardrop and pop-up campers! To be continued…
Another thing on my bucket list that I am really excited about is my new garden!! It has been a big project for us the past couple months. I had a vegetable garden for a couple years in our old house, over 5 years ago, and it felt like this was the year to pick it up again!
I am so happy with the finished product and am very thankful for my hubby’s hours of manual labor he put in to make this a reality for me! On the left side of the box I planted herbs, cucumbers and tomatoes. On the right side are summer squash, zucchini, bell peppers and strawberries. I hope at least a few things produce really well for us so I can check off that first item on my list!
What’s on your bucket list this summer? Here is a link to the magnolia page if you’d like to make your own. Of course you can always use a plain ole’ sheet of paper. Either way, I hope you’ll be intentional and specific about making this a summer to remember!
